Crutch words

Crutch words are those words that we slip into sentences in order to give ourselves more time to think or to emphasize a statement. Over time, they become unconscious verbal tics. Most often, crutch words do not add meaning to a  statement but are used to fill gaps in our conversations while we are searching for words/sentences in our head. Use them as they are intended to be used and not to fill gaps between sentences. As per a university study South Asians are notorious for using the below mentioned crutch words.

·        Actually
·        Literally
·        Basically
·        Honestly
·        Like
·        Obviously
